I truly love to celebrate Christmas. Not the trappings of trees, lights, or presents, but the true celebration that starts on the inside and works its way out. Jesus is the start of the celebration and invites us to come and join Him. I often think about the shepherds who waited on the hillside and celebrated as the angels sang. Then they celebrated at the manger. The wise men traveled far and long to celebrate. Centuries later, we all get to celebrate.
We celebrate by allowing Jesus to fill our whole being. We join with others and allow Christ to make His presence known amongst us. Jesus shared HIs birth with us. He shared His life with us. He shared His death and resurrection with us. He shared salvation with us. Jesus gave His all to us.
I remember my first true Christmas. I was saved right before my 20th birthday in May. I celebrated so that all those around me knew I had a new life in Christ. When Christmas came that year, it had a whole new meaning for me. I smiled so much that people remarked about how often they caught me smiling. I laughed, and I cried tears of joy. What a great celebration with friends and family! Now, at 72 years of age, I have been celebrating for a long time. I will always celebrate Christ at Christmas. Jesus has promised me eternal life, so if I live another year, I celebrate. If I join Him in heaven, I will celebrate continuously in the presence of Jesus.
Mission Encounters invites you to celebrate with us. Let it start on the inside and show itself on the outside. We welcome new friends to our family who are celebrating with us for the first time and look forward to an eternity of celebrations. We are thankful for you and love you in Christ. Some sweet day we will all join the eternal celebration in Heaven.
From our hearts to yours,
Merry Christmas
