On September 20th, the MEI Board of Directors approved the addition of a new board member, Lauren McGee. Lauren has been involved with the MEI ministry in Helene through leading short term trips since 2017. “Yes, I am grateful to be accepted onto the MEI board and I am looking forward to seeing what opportunities God has for me to join with him in the work he is doing through MEI,” said Lauren.
Lauren has been blessed to be involved in various forms of ministry since her first youth group mission trip when she was 16 years old. Lauren has had many overseas ministry opportunities and has lived abroad as well. “We are excited about Lauren joining the board. We look forward to all that God has in store for us in the days ahead!”, said Executive Director, James Langston.
Her passion for global ministries has led her to the role of “Missions Coordinator” in her church. She is responsible for coordinating communication with supported missionaries and leading short-term trips. She also serves on the outreach committee at her church, which is focused on local outreach..
Lauren is married to Derrick McGee and lives in a small town in Northeast Wisconsin called Wausaukee. After living in various big cities and doing a lot of traveling Lauren finds it peaceful to have settled in a small town where her husband is the Forest Ranger. Lauren works as a Paraprofessional in the local school. Her job involves working with children that have specialized needs of all kinds. It brings her joy to help a child/teenager feel worth and acceptance. She is aware that there is a great mission field within the school system and looks forward to answering that call each day.
