This Sunday we celebrate “The Resurrection” of Jesus.  He made it clear to His disciples in John 16:7  But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.  It was for our benefit that He died and rose from the dead.  He had a plan to send us the Holy Spirit (our Advocate).  How has that day impacted the believers around the world, and also us individually?

Millions will participate in the celebration.  Every New Testament church in the world will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.  Jesus has overcome death, and He has promised to send us the Holy Spirit.  He did all this for our benefit, because of His Great love for us.  The Holy Spirit fills every believer.  Therefore, EVERY believer can hear from God.  It is so exciting when God speaks.  We get to affirm the spiritual life of an individual believer. The Holy Spirit works in us individually and through His Body the church.  The church, Holy Spirit, and the individual work together to make Christ known in this world.

How is the resurrection working out in our life?  Are you dying to the old and putting on the new?  Eph 4:22  You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23  to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24  and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.  When we refuse to put off the old, we deny the resurrection.  When we put on the new, we affirm the resurrection.

As we celebrate Easter, The Resurrection, I want to invite you to celebrate with us, by putting off the old sin that entangles us, and putting on the Truth, the new that sets us free.  To be like Lazarus when Jesus said, “come forth”, and now unbind him.  Imagine your grave clothes falling away.  He has risen indeed!
