Juniata Christian School Short Term Mission Trip 2025

November 19, 2025 Todd Taylor Comments Off

2025 marked the third year that Juniata Christian School took their senior class on a Short Term Mission trip to Helene Honduras.  They spent a week in March sharing the gospel, visiting and ministering to the residents in Helene.  They held medical clinics, kid’s clubs and helped with construction projects at the ministry site.  Along with some photos of the team, 2 of the students have shared their thoughts and perspective of the trip.

My name is Micah Dressler, I went to Helene, Honduras with Juniata Christian School for my senior year mission trip. Todd and Karen Taylor led the trip, which was through Mission Encounters International. We had monthly meetings at the school leading up to the trip to learn what to expect while in Helene, and three circles, an evangelism tool we used for the trip. I was excited for the trip because it was my first mission trip outside of the country. I had also never flown before, so I was also looking forward to that.

When we had made it to the MEI base in Helene, we had a little tour of the base. The next week in Helene, to be simple, changed my life. One of my friends on the trip gave total surrender of his life to Christ on the trip. He was baptized the morning of our last day in Helene. This alone made the trip worth it, but so much more happened. Our group had a Kids’ Club during the week, and that was definitely a highlight. On the last day, one of the kids showed three circles to everyone else on their own, which encouraged all of us. I also enjoyed the visitations we went on. While we went to encourage them, the Helenians actually encouraged me more than I could have expected.

I am very thankful to God that this trip happened. All of the people there were so encouraging to me, but I want to thank Reed especially. Reed and I had some good conversations, and he prompted the senior guys to start a fellowship group. We have met several times already, and I am eternally grateful that God put Reed in my life, even if it was only for a week. I will not be forgetting my trip to Helene through MEI anytime soon. I would like to thank MEI for all the good work they are doing throughout the world, and encourage them to keep having groups come to their bases. It is an amazing opportunity for growth in Christ that I wish everyone to have.

Going on the mission trip to Helene, Honduras has been one of the most impactful experiences of my life, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity.

This journey not only allowed me to serve others and witness the love of God in action, but it also deeply challenged and strengthened my faith in ways I never imagined. Being immersed in a new culture, surrounded by genuine people with powerful stories, opened my heart and shifted my perspective.

One of the most unforgettable moments was getting baptized in the Caribbean Sea—a symbolic act that marked a new chapter in my walk with Christ. I returned home, changed, inspired, and with a renewed sense of purpose and spiritual growth. But most importantly, with a newfound mission field here at home.
