“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?…” Isaiah 43:19
Praise be to God! He is doing some new things at Mission Encounters International! One of the new blessings He has given us is the Wood family! Steven and Leslie Wood were recently approved by the MEI board as missionary apprentices to go and serve in Guatemala.
“Leslie and I have spent years preparing to serve on the foreign mission field,” Wood said. “Partnering with MEI has been a major milestone in that journey!”
The Wood’s met at Williams Baptist University in Arkansas while pursuing degrees in Christian Ministry, with a focus in missions. Steven served in the United States Marine Corps and both of them have taken several short-term trips to Guatemala in the past. They have two daughters Harlie and Hazel. The Wood’s currently live in Eastern Arkansas and are very involved at their home church, The Bridge.
As MEI missionary apprentices they will continue to fundraise and go through the necessary training before moving to Antigua, Guatemala. There they will focus on making disciples that can make disciples using simple and reproducible tools.
“We are so excited about the Wood family coming on board and how God will use them to make multiplying disciples in Guatemala,” said James Langston, Executive Director for MEI.
“We recognize that God is moving and working and opening some exciting new doors to reach different nations with the gospel of Jesus.”
