Training Discipleship in Zambia

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

In February, our Executive Director, James Langston, traveled to five African countries for training and encouraging over 80 church leaders for making multiplying disciples, using simple and reproducible tools.  Just during these 26 days of traveling there were over 140 Gospel shares.

One example of this training was in Zambia where pastors from different villages in southern Zambia came together to be trained by Mission Encounters International (MEI). The men spent 3 days together in the capital city of Lusaka learning simple tools to help them in evangelism, discipleship and church planting.

“We have really learned a lot in this training,” said Maxwell Mwaanga, a pastor in a rural area that borders Zimbabwe. “I realize now that every  believer has a responsibility to help God’s kingdom to grow.” The vision and strategy training, called God’s Heart and 4-Fields, gives leaders a simple framework that helps them be more strategic in their ministry. It is also a core piece of MEI.

“These things which have been taught to us are very very important,” said Alick Malunga, pastor of Lusitu Baptist Church. Malunga moved to southern Zambia a few years ago to help revitalize a church plant. Since moving to the area he has been instrumental in planting other churches.

“These men have been doing great ministry for years. The H4F training however will give them a framework that can really help them make disciples that multiply!” Said James Langston, executive director of MEI.

When you give to MEI you are helping to make multiplying disciples in different countries around the world.

Would you pray and ask the Lord how you should support this Great Commission work today?
